This week’s discovery for me was surprisingly Celia Cruz. Surprisingly because until now I had never felt much attraction to her music, voice or personality. Even if i knew she was regarded as one of the important figures in the last 30 years of Latin music (her nickname is ‘La reina de la salsa’), i couldn’t find a good angle … Now it seems like i’m ready for her music and her voice. I’ll try to post some links to her music.

Three new groups for absolute beginners!

There are three new groups for absolute beginners (‘beginners 1′) starting next week and the week after:

- a group on Thursday, 8-9.30pm, starting next Thursday (11/10) (dance hall Romaanse Poort)
- a group on Tuesday, 8-9.30pm, starting Tuesday 16/10 (dance hall Romaanse Poort)
- a group on Wednesday, 8.30-10pm, starting Wednesday 17/10 (dance hall Sportoase)

The first two groups will be given in the dance hall in CC Romaanse Poort (Brusselsestraat 63), the third one will be in the dance hall (‘Polyvalente zaal’) of Sportoase. The instructor of the first two groups will be Carl (and assistant), the instructor of the third one will be Aldona (and assistant).
To enroll, it is sufficient to send us a mail or give us a call (0496/123006). For the classes in Romaanse Poort we’ll take a maximum of 45-50 people. It is absolutely possible to enroll without a dance partner (we will then for every class make sure there’s an equal number of men and women).

Next Wednesday (10/10) we’ll organize another free try out class in the dance hall in Sportoase (‘Polyvalente zaal’, floor -1) from 8.30 to 10pm (instructor: Aldona). Please send us a mail or give a call if you would like to participate to this class.

Locations:
- Romaanse Poort is in Brusselsestraat, number 63, the full centre of Leuven (two minutes walk from the city hall). The dance hall is in the building of the cultural centre ‘Romaanse Poort’, on the first floor (follow indications ‘danslokaal’).
- Sportoase lies on the ring of Leuven, on the outside, at the height of Parkpoort (big, round building in red bricks next to the blue and white ‘Philips building’). The dance hall is in the basement (follow indications ‘polyvalente zaal’).

Both dance halls are very nice dance halls, with a parquet floor, mirrors etc. In Sportoase there are lots of dressing rooms available if you want to change before or after the class.

free try out on Wednesday 10/10

There will be a new free try out class on Wednesday 10th of October, from 8.30pm till 10pm. This try out class will take place in the ‘Polyvalente Zaal’ in ‘Sportoase’. The teacher will be Aldona Niemiro. Please let us know by mail (leuvensalsa@gmail.com) or phone (0496/123006) if you would like to participate to the try out class. Sportoase is situated on the ring of Leuven, next to the Parkpoort. The polyvalente zaal is on floor -1. It is a very good and big dance hall with a great floor, mirrors, etc …
