Lots of other new things these days …

- First of all of course the start of Salsita! with salsa, ladiesstyling and zumba classes in Brussels and Hoeilaart. Very important remark: Salsita! is the name under which we are starting to organize classes and events outside of Leuven. For the rest Salsita! and LeuvenSalsa! are one and the same organisation! There will be the same way of organizing things, the same quality standards, the same didactical approach, etc. The content of a certain level in Brussels, Hoeilaart or Leuven will therefore be very much the same allowing you to pass without any problem for one location to the other.

- New courses:

  • Salsa body coordination: Maria Szumielewicz will work with you on many elements that will ’support’ and ‘feed’ your salsa! Spinning, isolation, shines, styling, body movement, Afro-Cuban elements (rumba & others). These will be solo classes all, men or women. Highly recommended!
  • Intro to merengue-bachata-chacha: At salsa parties these styles are often played as well. We start this series of introduction to these styles so that you’ll be able to dance them at the salsa parties! You’ll have a much better idea of these great styles that are often known only superficially. The energy of merengue, the style of chacha, the smoothness of bachata …
  • Mambo for switchers: We start with classes in ‘mambo’ also called ’salsa on2′. Sometimes it seems the world (well, the ’salsa world’) is split up into an ‘on1′ camp and an ‘on2′ camp. We don’t believe in ‘camps’, so let’s start with ‘on2′ and let’s discover why so many salseros like this style so much!!! This course is an ‘on2 beginners’ course but for ’switchers’. ‘Switchers’ are people who have experience in salsa already but not in this particular style (the tempo of the classes will therefore be much faster than a ‘normal’ beginners’ class).
  • Ladies’ technique & styling: From September on Maria and Aldona will propose weekly classes for ladies, split up into two levels: an open level and an intermediate level. We recommend you to attend the open level first, no matter what your own level in partnerwork is.

- Some new rules in the organisation of our dance school:

  • All of the first classes of every series (short or long) can be taken as a free try out class.
  • In salsa there will be three categories (beginners, intermediate, advanced) subdivided in two levels (1&2)(which means for instance that there will be no more ‘intermediate 3′ level). We’ll try to have clear differences in ‘real level’ between these six different levels, recommending very often (see ‘Description courses’ for more detail) to the dancers to repeat a certain level before moving on. We are indeed convinced that learning to dance (salsa) takes time … The instructors will be there to advise you which level to take.
  • There are from the ‘intermediate 1 level’ from now on two moments to step into a same series of ten classes: at the first class or at the sixth class! You can step in from the first class (fee for a series of ten classes is 75 or 70 euro) or from the sixth class (for the last remaining five classes; fee will be 37.5 or 35 euro). Of course you can also pay per class (10 euro).
  • There will be discounts for people who enrol at the same time for two or more courses (long or short), no matter if it is within LeuvenSalsa! or Salsita!.
  • It will still be possible to recuperate classes that you have missed. The only condition is that you recuperate the class within the period of the series you are enrolled in. Please let us know by mail when you will recuperate the class you missed.
  • There is no distinction between LeuvenSalsa! students and Salsita! students. This means for instance that you can recuperate classes you’ve missed at LeuvenSalsa! in a Salsita! course or vice versa, this means also that you get the discounts for ‘multiple enrolling’ when you enrol for instance for one course at LeuvenSalsa! and another course at Salsita!.
  • The prices of the so called ’short series’ (series of five classes) have gone down! A course ‘Ladies’ technique & styling’, ‘Intro to merengue-chacha-bachata’, ‘Mambo for switchers’ or ‘Salsa body coordination’ costs only 40 euro! The fee for a ‘long series’ for students or -18 is now 70 euro (instead of 65 euro last year).
  • At the beginning of September there’ll be a completely renewed www.leuvensalsa.com website and a www.salsita.be website connected as well!
