Salsa stage in Tuscany

In the summer of 2008 we’ve organised the first ‘Salsa in Toscana’ dance stage. From the 4th till the 15th of August a group of 39 (!) participants had up to 37 hours of salsa classes with Sami, David and Carl, had some extra workshops (bachata, bachatango, chacha, rueda) with Sami, Alessandro, Samanta and Elisabetta and of course also discovered some parts of the great environment. We were located in the middle of Tuscany and only 25km from the seaside. Temperature went under 30° only at night! Siena, Firenze, Massa Marittima, the abbey of San Galgano, a picknick on the beach of Cala Violina, a day trip in the Maremma Regional Park and the Monte Amiata area (Santa Fiora and Monte Labro!) and many other things …

This summer there will be two stages, one in July and one in August. In July the stage will go from 11th till 18th of July, in August the stage will go from the 1st till the 8th of August.

What’s the general idea of this dance stage? To combine holidays and dancing. In the program we’ll alternate days with quite a lot of classes (five hours) and days with classes only in the morning. In this way you’ll also have the chance to go and visit some places, go to the sea, in other words have some holidays too. We’ll organize parties in the village we are located in and we will give you a program with all the parties going on in the area. We’ll offer you some extra activities (like a cookery class, a dinner or a trip with a professional guide in the area).

In what area will the stages take place? Go on the map of Italy and then Tuscany, look for Massa Marittima (south west of Siena). 10km away from Massa Marittima there’s a small village called Prata. Certainly not a metropole (600 inhabitants only!) but it has a wonderful view on the area (coast line, sea, nature and villages around), it’s surrounded by nature and it is a great starting point to go and see this part of Tuscany. The sea is 25km away, cities like Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano are only a bit further away. Of course, there’s much more, Tuscany has an enormous patrimonium! A great climate, nice people, great places to visit, wonderful food, …

Go and see the website www.salsaintoscana.com to have an idea through the pictures of last year … You’ll find on this site the info on prices, possibilities to stay, info on how to get there, the instructors of this year etcetera etcetera! There’s a group on Facebook too, here’s the address: http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=18615867053
